Greatest Teams Never to Win a World Series in the Past 30 Years-11 Phillies

Since the realignment took over in 1994, we know the NL East as a dynasty-driven division. The Braves from 95-05 ran the division. And now we somewhat see the Nationals doing that for majority of the last 5-6 years. But while it seems like an afterthought outside of Philadelphia, the Phillies from 07-11 probably had one of the strongest runs in this time period.

Philadelphia had a great mix of products out of their own farm of Pat Burrell, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, and Cole Hamels while adding key pieces over time of Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Brad Lidge, and Jayson Werth. With Atlanta falling off in a big way and the Mets having some gaping holes to their roster and the Nationals still in full rebuild, the Phillies ruled the roost with relative ease in this time period.

And in 2008, they were the kings of the baseball world, beating the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series.

The Phillies continued their run, getting back to the 2009 World Series but falling…

2018 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 / Picks 1-10

2018 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 / Picks 1-10
Browns- Saquon Barkley, RB

After an extremely impressive combine performance, Saquon Barkley will be selected #1 by the Browns. This pick makes sense because the Browns will be looking for that one two punch every great team needs. Browns went defense in the 2017 draft with Myles Garrett and Jabrill Peppers, and they're hoping to revamp their broken offense from 2017 and they can still get their QB at pick #4.

Giants- Josh Rosen, QB

Josh Rosen is the most NFL ready and accurate QB in this draft class. The Giants will hope Rosen can sit and develop behind Eli or become an immediate starter from week 1. Anyways, they need to look towards the future with their QB situation.

Colts- Bradley Chubb, DE

Before Malik Hooker went down with a season ending injury, he lead the league in interceptions. The Colts can pair the best defensive prospect in this draft with Malik Hooker and have a good defense for years to come.

Browns- Josh Allen, QB

The Science Is In: Exercise isn't the Best Way to Lose Weight

We have this idea that if we want to lose weight, we join a gym on January 1st, we start working out regularly, and eventually we’ll slim down. Well, here’s some truth. I read more than sixty studies on this, and it turns out exercise is actually pretty useless when it comes to weight loss.

Dr. Kevin Hall at the National Institutes of Health has done some of the most important studies on exercise and weight loss “We need to re-brand exercise … exercise isn’t a weight loss tool per say, it's excellent for health is probably the best single thing that you can do other than stopping smoking to improve your health. But don’t look at it as a weight loss tool.”

Exercise will definitely help you live a longer, happier life…. It’s just not the best way to lose weight. And the reason has to do with how our bodies use energy.

You may not realize it, but physical activity is actually a tiny component of your daily energy burn.

There are three main ways our bodies burn calories.
These include …

Why Underdogs Do Better in Hockey Than Basketball

If you were to put sports and games on a continuum, where the outcomes reflect pure skill on the right side, and pure luck on the left side, where would the big team sports go? Somewhere in the middle right? But, in what order? There’s actually a way to estimate that using statistics, and this is where they end up.

Michael Mauhoussin says “What you find is the NBA is the sport that’s farthest away from random, and then you go down the line and hockey is actually the sport that’s closest to randomness.”

Michael Mauboussin did these calculations for his book, The Success Equation, and his findings remind us what we love so much about these sports. Mauboussin’s continuum is based on the regular season for each league and he found that skill explains less than half of the season standings for the NHL, but that’s not to say hockey players are any less skilled.

“All these athletes, all these players are amazing.  Almost inconceivable how good they are.”

The continuum doesn’t tell us how ski…

Leicester star hits out at Mourinho; thanks god that he never joined Chelsea

Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva has uncovered his pleasure that a move to Chelsea crumbled when he was more youthful.

Conte blames two factors as he rues Chelsea exit to Barcelona

Antonio Conte believes a lack of luck and the quality of Lionel Messi proved the difference as Chelsea were bundled out of the Champions League by Barcelona.
Messi scored three goals and made another in the two-legged last-16 tie, but the Blues hit the post four times over the two legs as Barcelona took their place in the quarter-finals with a 4-1 aggregate success.

Blues head coach Conte left the Nou Camp pitch after Wednesday night’s 3-0 loss, featuring two goals from Messi, with his arm around the Argentina playmaker and the Italian  took the opportunity to compliment what he feels is a rare talent.

“When you have the opportunity to make a great compliment to Messi, I think it’s right,” Conte said.

“I’m very pleased to have the opportunity at the end of the game to give him my compliments. We are talking about an extraordinary player, the best in the world.

“I think we are talking about the player that can move the final result for every team that he’s playing for.

“This type of p…

Liverpool are tipped to beat Tottenham to a £30million-rated Stuttgart defender, while Man Utd and PSG are in talks over a potentially-huge swap deal, according to Wednesday’s European papers.
LIVERPOOL IN MARKET FOR STUTTGART DEFENDER Liverpool are ready to test Stuttgart’s resolve to keep one of their highly-rated stars this summer, according to reports in the German press.

Man Utd cleared to sign France star in £53.5million deal

Real Madrid are reported to have informed Manchester United they can sign Raphael Varane this summer – if they meet their £53.5million asking price.
The LaLiga champions have made a poor defence of their title this season and wholesale changes are expected at the club this summer – and having lost his place in the side, Varane is one of their big-name stars under threat.

Sergio Ramos and Nacho were Zinedine Zidane’s starting centre-back pairing during their 3-1 win over Getafe on Saturday – and reports in Spain believe Varane’s time at the club to be coming to an end.

The player has long been linked with a move to Manchester United with Jose Mourinho a confirmed admirer of the player having worked with him during his time in charge at the Bernabeu.

And with doubts surrounding the form of Victor Lindelof, United …

“But I don’t take anyone anywhere, I’m not a taxi or a plane.”
